The European Commission launches the 10th sanctions package

On the 1^st anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced the 10^th package of sanctions.

The 10^th package of sanctions contains additional lists of sanctioned persons and is aimed at Russia's need of industrial products, which cannot be produced by third countries. In addition, the 10^th sanctions package further aims to restrict exports of dual-use goods and advanced technology.

The sanctions package contains the following sanctions:

• Measures to prevent oligarchs from circumventing the already adopted measures.
• New export restrictions have been introduced on sensitive dual-use and advanced technologies.
• Prohibition of transiting dual-use goods and firearms through the territory of Russia to third countries.
• Import bans on Bitumen and related materials.
• Three Russian banks have been added to the list of entities subject to the asset freeze.
• Additional 120 individuals and entities has been added to the sanction list.
• Two additional Russian media outlets have been added to the media ban.
• Sanctioning proxy authorities and judges of the illegally annexed Ukrainian regions: Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.
• A ban on Russian nationals from serving on governing bodies of Member States' critical infrastructure companies.
• Prohibition on Russian nationals and entities to book gas storage capacity in the Union (LNG excluded).
• Measures to facilitate the divestment of EU operators in Russia.
